Datu Puti Chinese Adobo


Ingredients:

500 grams pork kasim with a little fat, cubed
1 ½ tbsps minced garlic
1/8 tsp freshly ground pepper
6 pcs whole black peppercorns
¼ cup Datu Puti Soy Sauce
2 tbsps sugar
Water to level off
2 pcs eggs, hardboiled
1 pc sanque (star anise)
1 tbsp Datu Puti Vinegar
A pinch of five-spice powder

Procedure:

1. Put all ingredients together in a deep casserole. Let boil then simmer till pork is tender.
2. When pork is tender, taste the soup and season.
3. Add hardboiled eggs. Make sure they’re covered with sauce. Serve while hot.

Serves 4 persons

Budget Keeper Tip:

Eggs act as extenders so that less pork is required.
